Who this is about

Miraculous Light (“we,” “us”) is an online reflective platform at iamdimakatsolucy.com, run by Dimakatso Lucy. It offers “Moments That Matter” (the founder’s own story), “Map Your Moments” (a reader-guided reflection), a Relationship Assessment, and reflective coaching enquiries. This policy covers everyone who visits the site or uses any of these tools.

What we collect, tool by tool

The Relationship Assessment

Your relationship-context answer, your 12 scored answers, the computed result, your checked-in feeling (“lighter/same/heavier”), and — only if you choose to answer them, on one optional screen after the questions and before your result — your age bracket, gender, relationship status and home language. This is collected automatically for every completion, the same way for everyone: there is no name field anywhere in the Assessment, and no choice to opt in or out, because nothing collected here can identify you. We use it to understand real patterns and to validate our own hypotheses about how relationship patterns show up across different South Africans — never to build a profile of a specific person.

Map Your Moments

This tool is currently used facilitator-assisted only — with Dimakatso Lucy (or another trusted facilitator) present, rather than as something the public fills in on their own. In this mode, nothing you write is sent to our servers at all: your reflection, any context you add, and any facilitator notes taken alongside it all stay in your browser only, and are given to you as a PDF at the end. We’re describing that plainly here because a self-serve public version, with its own explicit “contribute a de-identified copy” or “keep private” choice, is planned but not yet live — this policy will be updated with what that version stores if and when it is.

Site visits (analytics)

We don’t use cookies. Instead, your browser is given two random, anonymous identifiers: one that disappears when you close the tab, and one that stays on your device until you clear your browser data. These let us count page views, sessions and roughly how many distinct people use the site, which pages get read, which of Journey’s eleven moments get opened, how far someone gets through the Assessment’s questions before stopping, your approximate device type and language, and a general sense of how you arrived (e.g. search, social, or a specific campaign link) — never your IP address, your full referring web address, your name, or anything you’ve typed into any form. Reflective coaching enquiries

Emailing us to enquire about coaching sends your message and email address to our inbox directly, the same as any email. We don’t have a separate booking system yet.

Why we collect it, and our legal basis

To give you the reflection or result you asked for; to understand real relationship patterns and validate our own hypotheses about how they show up across different South Africans; to understand, in aggregate, whether the site is reaching and helping people; and to reply if you enquire about coaching. Two different bases apply depending on the tool, and we want to be direct about which:

The Relationship Assessment collects nothing that identifies you — no name, ever — so this is designed to sit outside what POPIA defines as “personal information” about an identifiable person in the first place, rather than relying on your consent to process identifiable data. We’re naming that reasoning plainly because it’s the specific point we most want a lawyer to confirm holds, particularly given age, gender, relationship status, home language and full raw answers together could, in principle, narrow down to very few people at low volumes — see “Who else sees it” below for how we guard against that in practice.

Map Your Moments (when used self-serve, in future) and identifying yourself when enquiring about coaching are different: wherever anything identifiable is stored there, it’s because you actively chose to give it, and your consent is the basis for that processing — you can withdraw it at any time by asking us to delete your information (see “Your rights” below). Some of what people write in Map reflections — about relationships, family, faith or emotional wellbeing — may constitute “special personal information” under POPIA; explicit consent is our basis for that too, and it’s the other specific point we intend to confirm with a lawyer.

Who else sees it

Only Dimakatso Lucy, via a password-protected admin view — for Map, only in aggregate/de-identified form, except for a name you specifically chose to contribute under that tool’s own consent model. For the Assessment, individual de-identified responses (raw answers, demographics, no name) are viewable to understand real patterns, but never cross-referencing age, gender, relationship status and home language together against a specific person’s raw answers in the same view — the same discipline already applied to Map’s aggregate reporting, kept deliberately even though nothing here has a name attached, given how few completions this site currently has. Nothing you write is ever published, shared publicly, or shown to other visitors.

The site is hosted using Vercel and Neon, two infrastructure companies that store and process data on our behalf and may do so outside South Africa. We also use Vercel’s own privacy-focused analytics (Web Analytics and Speed Insights) to monitor site performance; this is separate from the data described above and doesn’t receive your name, your written answers, or anything you type. We don’t sell information, and we don’t use advertising trackers of any kind.

How long we keep it

Identified information you’ve chosen to contribute is kept until you ask us to delete it — there is currently no automatic expiry. De-identified, aggregate information is kept indefinitely for research and improving these tools, since it cannot be linked back to you. Analytics identifiers are anonymous and short-lived by nature (session-scoped, or cleared whenever you clear your browser data).

Your rights

You can ask, at any time, what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email hello@iamdimakatsolucy.com. If you contributed a Map reflection, include the private reference code from your PDF if you still have it; otherwise, describe roughly what you submitted and when, so we can locate it. We aim to be the sole point of contact for any privacy question or concern about how this site handles your information.

Children

Miraculous Light is not intended for children under 18. We don’t knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top will always reflect the most recent update.
